Decorating Your Home With Complete Rattan Furniture Sets

Posted on Friday, July 31, 2009 in Rattan Furnitures

Rattan furniture has many benefits. For starters, they look beautiful in any setting naturally, and their looks can be further enhanced with skillful weaving techniques. Rattan furniture can be left to in its natural corn silk color, or painted with a wide variety of colors to suit any home. As cane can be weaved into any shape and form, which means you can find all types of furniture you want.

In fact, some home owners decorate their homes with nothing but rattan furniture. This achieves a consistent look and gives a better overall feel throughout the whole house. Also, rattan furniture tends to alter the general mood of the house to one that is leisurely and relaxed. As the home is a sanctuary, this makes rattan furniture the perfect candidate for decorating a home.

Here is a quick example of how you can decorate an entire living room with rattan furniture.

First, take a look at your floor plan, and very quickly, brainstorm for ideas on what you need or want. For instance, you are going to need a sofa set, a coffee table, a side table and a TV console. These are the essential items. There will be opportunities to make more decisions on the accessories, but these can come later.

Also, decide on a few color schemes. Different color schemes will give a different overall effect to the design. For example, earthly tones will make your living room appear more grounded and peaceful, while cool shades of blue will give a more relaxing feel. Ultimately, you have to feel the comfortable with the color scheme.

Once you have your list of essential items, go into the details. Ask yourself what type of sofa set you would like. Focus on one at a time. If you are looking for rattan sofa sets, then just do your research on sofa sets first. Remember, your sofa set is the main point of attraction in your living room, so spend a little more time on it if you can. Depending on your overall theme, you may then proceed to narrow down to just L-shape or S-shape sofas and so on.

Generally speaking, you will spend more time on choosing essential pieces of rattan furniture. These are like the anchor pieces of furniture in your living room. If you get this wrong, no accessories will be able to help you rectify the design. Also, don?t forget the little details as you are choosing. Rattan furniture often comes with cushions. So that means you will have to decide on the colors and fabric of the cushions as well. Try to choose cushion colors that are complementary to the colors of the rattan frames.

Finally, it?s time to choose matching rattan furniture that goes with your essential pieces. Do not choose anything that will look out of place in the living room. If your overall look is a resort look, don?t pick a sophisticated looking lamp. Instead, choose one that has a classic look or one painted to look like wood. You can decorate your home with additional vases, lamps, smaller tables and chairs and more. The possibilities are endless.

How your home looks depend largely on your own imagination. Remember to have fun decorating your home with rattan furniture

What You Should Know About TV Stands

Posted on Friday, July 31, 2009 in Home Furnitures

What most people do is go to Best Buy or HH Gregg and even Walmart and pick out their favorite plasma or LCD television and hurry home to set it up. Often times they forget about the fact that their old TV stand doesn’t at all match the color or style of the big screen they just bought. What ends up happening is they either opt for hardware to hang the flat screen or they decide to buy a TV stand to put the designer television on.

The most logical solution is a TV stand because you not only can hide all the wiring but you can have a place to put your Xbox or ps3 or Wii collection and not worry about having to come up with somewhere to put all your audio video gaming equipment. The best solution is finding audio video furniture that captures the elegant TV style with your existing room decor. Now there are many ideas and avenues to take when finding the right TV stand for your TV.

The first option is to go to your local electronics store and see if they have anything that matches the designer TV you want or bought. If that doesn’t work next you go to the internet and browse through a plethora of pieces varying in shape color and size. They literally range in price from a hundreds up to thousands of dollars depending on style and materials. When I look at a TV stand I want to make sure it is very sturdy and well built. It has to match my TV in color otherwise it sticks out like a sore thumb and my wife ends up complaining all the time and we don’t need that. Finally i make sure it has storage space for my gaming and movie collections.

When trying to decide on the right audio video rack for your living room you have many options to contend with. Do you want your stand to swivel? Do you want angled corners, wood veneer, shelves, sonic isolation pads, stainless steel, various types of metals, hardwood and the list goes on and on. The main thing is to make sure you find a reputable company and research any warranties they may have.

Check reviews online for the media cabinets you find and make sure they are from a reliable TV stand manufacturer. Many stands look good in pictures but when you get them home they are about as stable as your eighty year old grandma.

Decorating Ideas for your Attic

Posted on Friday, July 31, 2009 in Home Furnitures

Do you have an attic in your house? Lucky You! You can decorate your attic however you like and create your own favorite corner in the house, or even an extra place for your children or your guests. Depending on your attics’ space and on your own personal taste, you can finally have an attic that fulfils your needs.

Need an extra bedroom? The attic can turn into a beautiful private bedroom for a friend that stays the night, a visiting couple, or a relative from out of town. Use light shades and soft fabric materials; you don’t want your guest to get tired and dizzy from the lively colors. Instead, create a pleasant, romantic atmosphere. You will need a single or, if there is enough space, a double bed, a small closet with drawers and one or two small bedside tables. A big, elegantly shaped mirror will add several points and will make the room seem spacious. If the room is already spacious enough, you can place a bedroom chair facing the window. Add a dreamcatcher or a wind chime and enjoy the results!

How about a playroom for your children? They would love to have their own, “No Moms Allowed!” space for their toys, their games and their imagination. You will need a soft, warm carpet to keep the room cozy during wintertime. Don’t carpet the corners though, as you will need some room to swap out for a lighter, cooler carpet for the summer days. You will also need large pillows or soft inflatable chairs. When opting for a playroom, use lively colors that will keep the children excited and happy. This room could have a small TV and DVD play set, videogames, board games, many toys, and puzzles, whatever a kid needs! Don’t place sporting material such as bouncers, trampolines and swings because the roof is too low in attics and the children might get hurt while playing.

Are you an artist? Even if the answer is no, an attic can make you one! Make your own inspirational studio. Don’t use a carpet this time. Color and material chips will stain it. If you are a painter, equip your studio with painting knives, palettes, art pencils, drawing sticks, charcoal, paints, brushes and canvas, paper blocks and rolls. If you are a craftsman you can create a wood art studio. Equip it with a large working table, hole cutting templates, curving tools. Place furniture with shelves in the corner to place and admire your artwork.

An attic can be your gym! You’ll need adequate ventilation in there, or a large window. Dress the room with a soft carpet and buy your gym equipment. Don’t buy large fitness equipment. Prefer many smaller ones, or a few multi training machines. You can also have light exercise tools like fitness balls, tummy trimmers, weight sets, yoga mats. A small refrigerator filled with bottled water or energy drinks is necessary for the attic gym room so that you won’t need to run downstairs every time you get thirsty. A mini stereo will enhance your exercise with power music.

There is no limit to your imagination about the potential use of your attic space. Sure, it comes in handy as a storage place, but what moments of joy can you invest in a storage place? With creativity and a little money, the attic can be your favorite room.

Cardboard Chairs

Posted on Thursday, July 30, 2009 in Home Furnitures

When we move out of the comfort of home, starting out is never easy and this is because we need plenty of money to accomplish what we would like in order to be comfortable, this is why we should take it a day at a time. Just as Rome was not build in a day, it is almost impossible to have all we want when we begin.

It is for this reason that cardboard chairs were invented; they are a great piece of furniture to have before buying that big nice comfortable seat. When I first learned this, I asked myself; how is it possible to sit on a cardboard chair and not fall down? This is made possible by stacking very many cardboard pieces together with a special form of glue.

Hardboard is also used to ensure that they stay firm. Cardboard chairs were invented by a man names Gehry. There are models that have used the same concept of the cardboard chairs. As usual with every idea that makes a lot of money, there are people who manipulate the idea and come up with something that are more or less like the original.

It is also possible to make these chairs yourself; the tricky part of this is trying to make it firm enough for someone to actually sit on it without it crumbling down. The materials that are used are easily available. Just remember that the next time you buy a television or radio, keep the cardboard for future use to make a chair.

Modern Living Room

Posted on Monday, July 27, 2009 in Home Furnitures

So, are you ready for the Modern Living Room experience? Ready to live with modern style furniture but do not know where to start? Let’s start.

What I would recommend you is to first choose the right modern wall unit, TV stand or entertainment center for your living room because your sofa position and measurements will very much depend of the placement of your TV entertainment center, TV stand, or the complete wall unit. You can, of course, choose to just get a modern TV stand but I strongly recommend you to get a complete wall unit. This could be the most creative and unique furniture piece in your living room, the piece that will give your living style not only modern but absolutely unique look. These days, with so many options and choices of modern wall units out there it all depends only on your creativity to build your own style from what furniture manufacturers are offering you.

Modern sofas, modern sectional sofas, dinette area tables – all of these units you see in stores usually look somewhat alike to what your neighbors have. But modern wall unit gives you an opportunity to create something really eye catching, nice, unique and futuristic piece of modern furniture. And to make that happen, let me offer some helpful hints that always work for me:

A wall unit is usually what you see first when enter a living room so work hard on it. First, you really need to start with choosing the right size – yes, it does matter here. There is a very simple rule for the wall unit I use: “90-60-90″, or I would say “90-60-45-90″ J. What it means is that, usually, wall units geometrically come in standard sizes like 90, 60 and 45 cm. Sometimes you will find 120 and 100 cm units existing but those usually are TV bases or base units. Depth typically does not exceed 15-17″ for wall mounted units or storage units and 20-24″ for base units. Trust me, if you’ve done this part of your homework correctly, it will serve you right.

These days, plenty of colors and finishes are used for modern wall units. Lacquer, wood veneer…. I especially like black / white, black / red lacquered color combinations; however, even though white color looks nice, be very careful with it. The color of your wall might spoil the effect (means if your wall is painted in white, beige or of white then white wall unit will blend in and you won’t have that contrast effect you’ve been looking for).

Please…. Do not try to make your wall unit spacey and useful at the same time…. It won’t work… there are lots of closets in your house so do not kill the look, make it simple, low to the ground, open and airy.

Last but not least – do not overplay and do not forget about your components… Some wall units like low boards with the TV on top look nice in the catalog BUT in the real life if you try to set up a TV there, you will have lack of space and lots of cords to hide. So be careful when choosing a TV unit in your wall unit, make sure you know measurements of all your components you buy the wall unit for and try to visually hide everything into the TV unit. Sometimes a back panel works nice to hide cords under the panel. Sometimes TV units are made this way to hide all those ugly cords. So be careful – this is very important.

Modern sofas… or modern sectional sofas are the most commonly used pieces of living room furniture today. Here are some recommendations when choosing one: it is always better if you position the sofa and your chase lounge the way that they both face your TV (wall unit). I also like the idea of putting chase lounges on both sides of your modern sectional sofa. The result is: it will make a sitting place cozier…. The whole place feels more secure and separated from other areas that way, making it a space for easy relaxation, a living quarter inside a living quarter.

It is always your choice to choose between a modern leather sofa and a modern fabric sofa. I like fabric sofas myself. It is more comfortable for me and you have lots of different colors to play with but, once again, it is always your choice.

Now, let’s get to the modern coffee table choices. If your room is big or even huge, low profile tables in wenge finish would look very nice there. If you ask me, I would prefer arm tables. They save lots of space; they’re not heavy, they are convenient enough to put a newspaper or a cup of coffee on them when you need it. Or you can hide it when you are not using it. There is a wide selection of these kinds of tables these days in wenge, glass (almost all of then have adjustable height).

Do not use a rug, even if it has a modern print on it, use cow hides. Natural and / or faux will always work the right way on your floor accenting a modern look of your room. Also a few chairs or foot stools in matching colors could be used if there is a need to increase the number of seats.

Modern Dining or Dinette area… Wrong choice here could kill your entire job of creating your modern living room. Dinette table and chairs, even if you choose a modern ones, still looks heavy and attracts too much attention to itself, taking it all away from the rest of your beautifully created ensemble. To solve this problem and not to kill all previously done work, I would recommend selecting a console table, either in wenge finish or glass. One side of it usually gets permanently attached to the wall. The other side has nice modern chrome legs. These consoles are usually hard to find but they can be custom made easily (and mostly not expensive).
